The first international ICANN meeting of 2015 is scheduled for 8 to 12 February, 2015 in Morocco, North Africa.
But the current Ebola crisis may scupper these plans. During ICANN’s Annual General Meeting this week in Los Angeles, some participants have started to question whether holding the Morocco meeting is a good idea.
The Moroccan authorities also seem reluctant to risk bringing upwards of 2000 participants (the LA meeting had around 2500 registered participants) in potential contact with the Ebola virus. They are already cancelling major events such as the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament which was due to happen around the same time as the Moroccan ICANN meeting.
