Thief

It was the domain name saga of the late nineties early 2000s. A book was even written about it! The theft of sex.com, one of the most expensive domain names ever (said to have been sold for $14 million in 2006).

Now The Domains is reporting that porn.com may have gone the same way. Stolen from the company that paid $9.5 million to acquire the name in 2007.

Porn.com was with a US registrar until a recent WHOIS change. It now appears to be with a Russian registrar. The actual WHOIS record has been anonymized, so there’s no way of knowing if this is an intentional registrar transfer by the legitimate owner.

But said owner having just initiated a UDRP complaint, that would seem unlikely.
